"When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you."
- Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900)

The Metaphysical Boundary

When I envision a universe parallel to ours, I reason that there must be a barrier separating the two or else we would be constantly colliding. This barrier keeps us contained so we don't dissipate through an amorphous space-rime continuum. However, that is not to say that such a barrier mightn't have a soft transition layer or even some tunnels that open and close. I like to call this metaphorical wall a "Metaphysical Boundary".

For me the easiest way to picture a parallel universe is to think of it as two universes occupying the same space but composed of matter which is undetectable in the opposite universe. How this could be possible is the subject of much mathematical noodling, and it hasn't been figured out yet. Neither has the idea been disproved by science. Though probably inaccurate in many ways, modeling the Metaphysical Boundary as I am proposing makes it easier for me to explain how paranormal investigators have been detecting paranormal phenomena and how we might experiment even further.

Doesn't it seem reasonable to think that the Metaphysical Boundary could be at least slightly penetrable? That is to say, mightn't it have a cross-dimensional transition zone comprising energy and matter barriers that are "amorphous"?

Here's how I concoct that concept. It seems likely that the opposing forces of normal and paranormal energy cause a cancelling out effect at the interface. In other words, the interfaces where the normal and paranormal ethers rub across each other generate quantum zeros. That is why we don't see them and they don't see us, and the two entities don't throw sparks at each other.

To go a step further, I believe these quantum zeros zones are not actually solid zeros, i.e., not a hard shell of zero energy, but a Gaussian quantification in both dimensions resembling a noisy, amorphous barrier. These noisy regions exists within all matter, electromagnetics, gravity, and all other forms of energy. Isn't it possible that this noise surrounds or comprises the Metaphysical Boundary? By delving into the normal-side noise floor, perhaps we can detect evidence of the paranormal side.

Crossing to the Other Side. I think it is likely quite difficult for matter or energy to make much headway through a Metaphysical Boundary, and certainly near impossible to penetrate it all the way. Here's why.
An energy or material approaching the Metaphysical Boundary must meet opposing forces that intensify exponentially as the boundary is crossed into. The graph opposite shows an exponential curve that, without specific dimensions, schematically represents this concept. What is shown is that it takes relatively little energy to get near and slightly into the metaphysical boundary but it takes gigantic amounts of energy to progress farther and farther across. The energy requirement rises so quickly as to preclude any possibility of getting deep into the opposite universe. This is what keeps the parallel universes separated, but does allow a limited interaction right at the boundary. This is where very sensitive instruments will be required to detect paranormal energy forms that are coming through the barrier. At that weak power level, any paranormal events will likely be quite hard to detect.

Pathology of Manefestations

I envision that the event of passing through the amorphous Metaphysical Boundary produces a transforming effect whereby paranormal energy or matter converts completely or partially into normal properties. This is why we can detect paranormal phenomena. We cannot touch, see, taste or feel anything that does not exist as normal matter or energy in our physical world. Neither can our instruments, cameras or sound recorders pick up anything but normal light, air vibrations, or electromagnetic fields.

Occasionally the Metaphysical Boundary may be penetrated with enough energy to materialize a significant mass or other physical effect like creating sound and physical motion, apparitions, thermal gradients, etc.

Of course, what is highly hoped for is the ability of personalities existing on the other side to reach over to us through the metaphysical boundary.  The question boils down to whether a personality from the other side can cross the metaphysical boundary and materialize on our side.

Another, more compelling question is whether we can cross over to the other side from here. Is the Metaphysical Boundary symmetrical or is it a one-way street? Perhaps this will be answered one day, but for now we can only try to imagine the possibilities and run experiments to test our theories.

I will add more to this blog as time goes on. Please check for new white papers.

Theoretical Noisy or Amorphous Barrier and Relative Power Probably Required to Penetrate

One of my theories: Within the amorphous part of the Metaphysical Boundary, matter and energy from both universes exchange places randomly, transforming between normal and paranormal. Eventually, a small amount of paranormal that has transformed to normal, and vice versa, might be able to leak out through the boundary into the opposite universe before getting a chance to transform back to its original form. If so, whatever leaks through will most likely be very weak but could propagate throughout the parallel universe subject to natural masking and attenuation caused by the environment.

This can explain why paranormal events such as apparitions, EVP, ghost sightings, voices, kinetics, etc., are most often witnessed in darkness or dim light and within noisy recordings and fuzzy photos or videos.

What about this? Spiritualists believe that spirits of the departed remain somewhere, in another Dimension or in a Parallel Universe, and can be contacted through gifted living people who we call Mediums. Usually the process occurs while holding seances. In some cases ordinary people who are in a trance or other altered mental state are believed to be able to at least receive messages and sometimes send them or even act out movements and voices in foreign tongues. It is apparent to me that the mind is the main agency at work in these cases, but why are some people so sensitive and others not? Does my concept of a Metaphysical Boundary have any relevance? Would it be possible that two minds in parallel universes could find each other and exchange synaptic signals? It does not seem logical to me because it would appear that the crossing is mostly one-way and that the other side is be able to be summoned from our side while we cannot summon into theirs. Or can we?
